When is the best time to prevent?
The best & most cost effective time to protect a ventilated attic is right after the roof is assembled, before windows & rough-in utilities. At this point it can be done for pennies a square foot. If mold is allowed to grow then it needs to be cleaned first, then treated. If drywall, insulation, pot-lights, airducts, occupants, etc. are in place, the cost skyrockets.
Prevention is the smarter choice.
Building During the Winter on a crawlspace or basement?
Then this is relevant to you.
If your project is expected to be exposed for a few months to our mild wet winter weather, strongly consider protecting the wood members in your crawlspace as soon as the floor has been assembled. Construction mold prevention is the key.
Again, prevention is pennies a square foot, but if molds develops it must be cleaned then treated. Cleaning is expensive.
Environmental Equilibrium
It's important to bring the building into environmental equilibrium before drywall, that is the point were the moisture content of the building is equal to the ambient relative humidity. This reduces/eliminates drywall cracks & nail pops, and ensures the doors & windows remain square.
Our method is aggressive but controlled. The entire process is monitored & recorded. A drying report is given at the end of the process.
